What it does

SEC EDGAR — U.S. public-company filings and XBRL financials, key-free. Resolve a ticker to its CIK, list recent filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, S-1, 13F, Form 4 insider trades…), and pull reported financial line items (revenue, net income, assets…). Use when the user asks about a company's filings, earnings reports, fundamentals, or insider/institutional activity.

The SEC EDGAR skill is one of 25+ pre-wired TradeLoop integrations that any MCP-compatible client — Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Codex CLI, and ChatGPT desktop — can call out of the box. You don't configure MCP servers or copy API keys into a JSON file; the TradeLoop daemon discovers the skill at startup and exposes its tools to whichever AI client is running.

Tools available (3)

• edgar__lookup_cik

  Resolve a company ticker or name to its SEC CIK number (needed by the other tools). Returns matching companies with cik, ticker and title.

• edgar__recent_filings

  List a company's most recent SEC filings with form type, date, description and a direct document URL. Optionally filter by form (e.g. 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, 4, 13F-HR). Accepts a ticker or CIK.

• edgar__company_concept

  Get the reported values over time for one XBRL financial concept (line item) for a company — e.g. Revenues, NetIncomeLoss, Assets, Liabilities, CashAndCashEquivalentsAtCarryingValue. Accepts a ticker or CIK.

How to connect

SEC EDGAR is a no-auth skill — there's nothing to connect. Once TradeLoop is installed, your agent can call its tools immediately.

1. Run curl -fsSL https://tradeloop.top/install.sh | sh on macOS / Linux (or the PowerShell command on Windows).
2. Run tradeloop login to create your account and a device-bound encryption key.
3. Run tradeloop update to sync the skill + credentials to every installed AI client.
