What it does

FRED — U.S. & global macroeconomic data from the St. Louis Fed: CPI/inflation, Fed funds rate, unemployment, GDP, Treasury yields, yield-curve spread, money supply, VIX and 800k+ series. Use when the user asks about macro / rates / inflation / the economy / a FRED series. Common series: CPIAUCSL (CPI), FEDFUNDS, UNRATE, DGS10 (10Y), T10Y2Y (yield curve), PAYEMS (nonfarm payrolls), GDP, M2SL, VIXCLS.

The FRED (Macro Data) skill is one of 25+ pre-wired TradeLoop integrations that any MCP-compatible client — Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Codex CLI, and ChatGPT desktop — can call out of the box. • fred__get_series

  Get the most recent observations (date + value) for a FRED economic series by id. Use for current/recent macro readings — inflation, rates, unemployment, yields, etc. Defaults to the latest 12 observations, newest first.

• fred__search_series

  Search FRED for series matching free text and return their ids, titles, units and frequency. Use to discover the series_id for a concept (e.g. 'core inflation', 'mortgage rate').

• fred__series_info

  Get metadata for a FRED series: title, units, frequency, seasonal adjustment, and observation date range.

How to connect

FRED (Macro Data) needs a provider API key to talk to fred. Connect it from the TradeLoop dashboard:

1. Run curl -fsSL https://tradeloop.top/install.sh | sh on macOS / Linux (or the PowerShell command on Windows).
2. Run tradeloop login to create your account and a device-bound encryption key.
3. Visit tradeloop.top/connect and authorize FRED (Macro Data).
4. Run tradeloop update to sync the skill + credentials to every installed AI client.
