What it does

Polygon.io — unified market data for U.S. stocks, options, forex, crypto and indices: latest/previous price, OHLCV bars for charting, ticker search & reference details, and market news. Use when the user asks for a price/chart/history of a stock, FX pair, crypto, option or index. Ticker formats: stocks 'AAPL'; crypto 'X:BTCUSD'; forex 'C:EURUSD'; options 'O:AAPL250117C00150000'; indices 'I:SPX'.

The Polygon.io skill is one of 25+ pre-wired TradeLoop integrations that any MCP-compatible client — Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Codex CLI, and ChatGPT desktop — can call out of the box. You don't configure MCP servers or copy API keys into a JSON file; the TradeLoop daemon discovers the skill at startup and exposes its tools to whichever AI client is running.

• polygon__get_prev_close

  Get the previous trading session's OHLCV (open/high/low/close/volume + VWAP) for any ticker. Fast way to get a recent price. Works for stocks (AAPL), crypto (X:BTCUSD), forex (C:EURUSD), options and indices.

• polygon__get_aggregates

  Get OHLCV bars over a date range for charting / trend analysis. Choose the bar size via multiplier + timespan (e.g. 1 day, 5 minute, 1 week). Defaults the date range based on timespan if from/to are omitted. Newest bars first.

• polygon__search_tickers

  Search for tickers by name or symbol across asset classes and return reference info (name, market, type, exchange, currency). Use to resolve a company/asset to its Polygon ticker.

• polygon__ticker_details

  Get reference details for one ticker: full name, market, type, exchange, currency, description, market cap, employees, homepage.

• polygon__get_news

  Get recent market news articles, optionally filtered to a ticker. Returns headline, publisher, timestamp, tickers and URL.

How to connect

Polygon.io needs a provider API key to talk to polygon. Connect it from the TradeLoop dashboard:

1. Run curl -fsSL https://tradeloop.top/install.sh | sh on macOS / Linux (or the PowerShell command on Windows).
2. Run tradeloop login to create your account and a device-bound encryption key.
3. Visit tradeloop.top/connect and authorize Polygon.io.
4. Run tradeloop update to sync the skill + credentials to every installed AI client.

Pricing

Free at every TradeLoop tier. Connect your account once at /connect; the OAuth or API-key credential stays encrypted on your machine and syncs to your other devices via the TradeLoop vault.
